Heejung is coming to BWCS for a unique workshop you won't want to miss! Known for her playful and impactful approach, she encourages everyone to step outside their comfort zone with kindness and energy. A great opportunity to see your dance from a new perspective and take your skills to the next level! A social dance session for participants is planned for the evening. Registration opens Wednesday the 29th at 6:30 pm! PROGRAM: 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM: Beginner level (less than one year of regular classes) 3:30 PM - 4:45 PM: Intermediate level (more than one year of regular classes) 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM: Advanced level (more than two years of regular classes) 6:15 PM - 7:30 PM: Dinner break 7:30 PM - 12:00 AM: Social dancing LOCATION: Comenius Hall, Gemmenschapcentrum de Platoo, Gezusters Brontëplein 20, 1081 Koekelberg THE INSTRUCTOR: Heejung was born and raised in South Korea. From a young age, she began training in Hapkido, a highly eclectic Korean martial art. After training for more than 10 years, she set her sights on another art form and joined a hip-hop dance team. Her dance skills and expression through movement continued to grow over the years, and one day, on a visit to New York, she fell in love with West Coast Swing. Learning as much as she could, she returned to Korea and founded Westie Korea in 2009 with the hopes of bringing the joy she experienced to her local community. Since then, she has been the heart and soul of the Korean WCS community, providing instruction, support, and unlimited smiles and energy to the ever-growing scene. Recently, she has worked to bring her unwavering passion to other communities, helping up-and-coming scenes in Asia and bringing her unique flavor to established communities around the world. Heejung stands out in the WCS scene with her distinctive hip-hop styling and boundless creativity, and she loves teaching, meeting, and dancing with new people! Dancers of all levels from all over the world who have the joy of taking Heejung’s workshops praise them as “out of the box”, as she pushes students out of their comfort zone in a friendly, fun, and engaging way.
